I am a visual artist working in printmaking and collage. I use metals, wood, plastics, and found objects: combine these with printmaking, painting and drawing; and then layer these elements onto a permanent surface. Until about 1999 I was strictly a printmaker specializing in intaglio and serigraphy, then I started experimenting with mixed media which led to the current multi-dimensional mixed media I work in. The interplay of materials is a wonderful and extraordinary challenge representing diverse and ever changing forms.

I am fascinated by cultural anthropology, I research historical symbols and cultural beliefs relating to the current theme I am working with and include these in my work. I use an intuitive approach to art and allow the creative process to lead me to my subject matter and then follow the natural movement and direction of each piece. I believe each piece has something to say, I just have to find the visual imagery to interpret it.
Anita's studio My inspiration is drawn from personal experiences and my work becomes an extraordinary journey that reveals a visual counterpart to the invisible and often illusive world of thoughts and emotions. I reflect on my life experiences; relate these to history and intuition; and then use visual imagery to illustrate the many facets of a given experience. If you are interested in exhibiting my art work, contact me.

In addition to being a visual artist I am an advocate for the arts; I teach private art lessons, design visual art lessons, and have developed K-12 arts enrichment/education programs. One of my greatest joys is encouraging creativity and helping people realize the value and potential of the visual arts.
